This spring the Meredith College Master of Science in Nutrition Program is excited to be partnering with Linda Watson, local author of Wildly Affordable Organic, to host and film her ‘Wildly Good Cook’ – cooking series of four (4) classes on Feb. 25, Mar. 17, Mar. 23 & Mar. 24.

Learn to cook like it matters and become a certified Wildly Good Cook with these four classes taught by Linda Watson, author of Wildly Affordable Organic: Eat Fabulous Food, Get Healthy, and Save the Planet–All for $5 a Day or Less. You’ll be part of the studio audience, too, as the series is filmed for a series of DVDs that will let people around the world learn how easy it is to cook delicious, seasonal food from scratch.
The Wildly Good Cook series is for new cooks and for experienced ones who want to cook without cholesterol and without wasting food, time, or money. These funny, fast-paced classes include cooking demonstrations, samples, and handouts with plant-strong variations on the Wildly Affordable Organic classic recipes.

Saturday, February 25 -Best Use of Your Resources: Shopping, Planning, and Cooking — Save time and money preparing delicious meals. Learn where to scrimp and where to splurge in the grocery store, including the truth behind some popular food myths. Find seasonal bargains beyond the produce section and make your own by feeding your freezer. Learn tips to get organized, stretch your budget, and trim your waistline. Even cut down on dish washing and let foods “cook” while you sleep! See how the recipe for Better Blueberry Pancakes puts many of these ideas together.
Saturday, March 17 -Delicious, Thrifty, Healthy Beans —
Delicious, nutritious beans are one of the great food bargains. Learn about cooking dried beans, including why to soak and when to salt. Find out how to turn one big pot of beans into three or more different recipes. Learn to make and freeze your own beany “fast food” loaded with vegetables to help you get through any time or budget crunch.
Friday, March 23 -Making the Most of Seasonal Vegetables—
You can afford to enjoy organic vegetables! Learn to squeeze the most flavor and value out of produce in every season, from asparagus to zucchini.
Saturday, March 24 -Cook for Good in 20 Minutes a Day —
In just 20 minutes of active time a day, you can cook sixty percent of your family’s food for the week from pure, seasonal ingredients. You’ll marvel at how easy it is to save money by cooking delicious food from scratch. I’ll show you my super-efficient cooking plan that lets even a busy family enjoy home-made bread, pasta sauces, bean stews, healthy snacks, speedy side dishes, and fruit desserts.

These classes cost $60 if taken individually, but this series will be:
$0, FREE for Meredith students;
$45, specially discounted for Meredith Staff, Faculty and Alumni;
$54, available for a 10% discount for the public.
All classes will be held from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. in the beautiful food lab at Meredith College. Complete all four classes and get a signed certificate, suitable for framing, recognizing your status as a Wildly Good Cook.
